CEATI International
The CEATI program provides utilities with a cost-effective and “closed door” vehicle for sharing experiences and addressing issues pertinent to their day-to-day operations and planning. In addition to serving as a strong technical resource tool, the CEATI program model is also structured to accommodate project collaboration opportunities yielding practical deliverables in which utilities can leverage their expenditures.

The CEATI Hydro program brings together the world’s leading hydroelectric utilities in three distinct areas:

The Dam Safety Interest Group
The DSIG will be meeting on March 26-27, 2009 in Los Angeles following the workshop. If you are a dam owner and have interest in participation, please contact CEATI.

The Dam Safety Interest Group (DSIG) is composed of dam owners who jointly sponsor research & development projects designed to help assess and improve the safety of dams. They have found great value in their ability to test and discuss different maintenance, design and emergency response strategies through the forums CEATI provides. Today, the DSIG is represented internationally by participants around the globe.

Topics and Issues of Interest:

  • Gauging the Effectiveness of Dam Safety Programs
  • Debris Management
  • Dam Safety Performance Monitoring and Data Analysis Management – Best Practices
  • People/Technology/Organization in Emergency Preparedness Plans/ Emergency Action Planning
  • Risk assessment for dam safety
  • The use of geophysical methods in the diagnostics and monitoring of embankment dams
  • Erosion and piping in dams
  • Reliability of discharge facilities
  • Ice loadings
  • Probability (frequency) of extreme floods
  • Testing of embedded dam anchors

The Hydraulic Plant Life Interest Group
Topics of interest include intakes/spillways and all manner of generating facility structures and equipment, plant modernization guidelines and methods, diagnostics and monitoring of equipment and structures, O&M cost reduction techniques and experiences, turbine and generator development studies, plant personnel policies, risk management.
