The Grounding and Lightning Task Force

The CEATI Grounding and Lightning Task Force (GLTF) provides clarity on misunderstood and misapplied grounding concepts. It provides an avenue for moving information from one technical area to another, as well as defining the direction for future research.

The main objective of the GLTF is to identify knowledge gaps and to provide guidance on future research and technology development initiatives. It brings industry professionals together to identify, discuss and resolve common problems by creating a networking opportunity for utilities concerned with grounding and lightning issues.

It represents the various CEATI Interest Groups interested in grounding and lighting issues, such as the Life Cycle Management of Substation Equipment and Apparatus (LCMSEA) Interest Group, the Transmission Line Asset Management Interest Group (TLAM) and the Overhead Line Design Issues & Wind and Ice Storm Mitigation Interest Group (WISMIG).

The GLTF stays abreast of developments within those individual Interest Group programs and provides advice on effective coordination of initiatives related to grounding and lightning topics.
