Background

| With a strong commitment to servicing the needs of their Utility participants and Energy Advancement as the driving force behind their efforts, over 100 organizations (electric & gas utilities, government, provincial and state research bodies) from around the globe are now represented within CEATI through 15 focused Interest Groups, each facilitated by a technical expert devoted to that field of study. CEATI is continuously expanding its international reach, with participants including utilities from the United States, Britain, Japan, Germany, France, Sweden, South Africa, Israel, Australia, and New Zealand (view our Participation Map). This diversity contributes to the strength of CEATI programs and brings value directly to participants, who are integral to the success of this user-driven program. |
| CEATI International has its history rooted in the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA), which has been the national forum and voice of the electricity business in Canada for over a century. Since its inception in 1891, CEA has striven to keep one step ahead of the issues that affect our industry. |
| In 1974 CEA initiated its R&D Program to serve the research needs of Canadian electric utilities. This R&D program was expanded to include collaborative technology development on an International level in 1978. This evolution was the impetus for CEATI International. |

| The CEA R&D program became its own entity in 1998, allowing for program support expansion on a global scale. Known as CEA Technologies, this new company would later become the Centre for Energy Advancement through Technological Innovation (CEATI) International, in 2008. With over 30 years of experience in technology development, CEATI capitalizes on working relationships with a global network of technology providers and expert groups. |
