Testimonials

While the growth of our participation base over the past five years might serve as a testimonial in and of itself (CEATI now brings together nearly 100 organizations from 5 continents), we've found that utility representatives often go out of their way to let us know the value they see from our Interest Group program. We strive to provide our participants with a high level of service, and we take this sort of feedback as a sure indication of success.

"NBPower is not a large utility.  By joining with other utilities, the R&D contributions we’ve made have resulted in tremendous value to NBPower.

Even though “advancement of the knowledge base” is usually enough justification to fund a project, our experience has been that the benefits from one project alone can justify years of membership in a committee such as the Overhead Line Design Issues and Wind and Ice Storm Mitigation Interest Group (WISMIG).  Line arresters applied to transmission lines has been one such project, with the research work performed being presented in an international workshop catering to the needs of the utilities in the Interest Group.

WISMIG focuses on the issues most important to participating utilities and is structured so that projects are voted on and then selected by participants.  Even though the option is always there to contribute more funding and have a stronger voice, all opinions are valued within WISMIG.  I have found that I can speak directly to support any project of particular interest to NBPower; the opportunity is always there for WISMIG participants to suggest new ideas.  The ability to network and share experiences has allowed new ideas to become reality.

By belonging to WISMIG, NBPower practices due diligence in staying up-to-date and knowledgeable on technical issues.  Resource information available from WISMIG includes reports, design guidelines, studies, software and standards.  In addition, the ability to network with peers in other utilities has proven to be invaluable to NBPower.

NBPower has seen tremendous value in the courses offered by CEATI, specifically “The Preparation of an Emergency Restoration Plan,” held at our offices in August of 2006.  This course, along with supporting work in WISMIG has allowed NBPower to revise their emergency restoration preparedness planning, to the benefit of the utility for years into the future."

"The HPLIG and CEATI have been a perfect fit for the needs that we have.  Learning about them at HydroVision in Montreal several years ago was one of the most successful business trips I have had in over 30 years in the power generation industry."

On information exchange:
"Thanks so much for your efforts in helping us locate underwater diving contractors with ROV experience.

We had about a dozen or so responses and identified about eight contactors with this capability. In addition, four or five are in our general geographic area (to minimize mobilization costs) that we will initially follow up with. We have a rather short fuse on this effort since we need to get this lined up now to make sure we can do the inspection work in the March/April time frame before our FERC inspection.

To get this information in less than two days was a fantastic response by both CEATI and our HPLIG members. You can be sure that this information was passed on to our generation management team.

Thanks again for a super job."
