4th Annual Smart Grid Conference
We are pleased to announce a Call for Abstracts for the 4th Annual Smart Grid Conference. Experts are invited to submit presentation abstracts on one of the themes described below.
IMPORTANT – Abstracts are due by 4:00pm ET on March 15th, 2019. A notification of acceptance will be provided no later than April 26, 2019. Abstracts shall be evaluated based on their applicability to the subject matter and their technical merits. Proponents are encouraged to emphasize work conducted for their electric utility clients. (Approx. 300 words)
Theme 1 Details/Subtopics: Data Management for Non-Meter Devices
Storage of time series data from non-meter devices and use it for analysis. For example, some utilities use Pi Historian. What other tools are being used?
Theme 2 Details/Subtopics: Building of a Modern Grid
Case studies and best practices for the convergence of business processes and people.
Theme 3 Details/Subtopics: AMI Deployment to Support Modern Grid Operation
Practical application of AMI data (tips, tricks and experience – case studies). What utilities can do to implement AMI and list the challenges utilities will face. How to handle metering and methods to generate load profiles (with and without generation). Working on data governance and analytics activities (how to use their AMI data to inform better business decisions).
Theme 4 Details/Subtopics: Forecasting the Impact of EV Charging Stations
Methods utilities can use to monitor the Electric Vehicle charger penetration and the challenges to be expected. Centralized versus localized charging of electric vehicles. Forecasting the impact on the utility distribution system. Also, electrifying heavy fleets (example: buses) and how that will affect the load profiles and the logistical hurdles.
Theme 5 Details/Subtopics: Distribution Automation
Is there a business case? How might IED’s be employed to support DA? Telecommunications strategies. Transmission techniques that may be used for DA. And, resource effectiveness/business transformation to support development and maintenance of DA; self-healing versus non-self-healing distribution automation – localized versus centralized; integrated planning of deployment with activities such as growth/expansion and upgrades.
