The objective of this project is to prepare a state of the art report for developing methodologies in determining the site-specific loading criteria for overhead lines. The development of loading criteria should consider local terrain characteristics and this information can be gathered using modern (digital) mapping technology in profile a specific site. The transfer function of site specific wind loads should include the uncertainties in terrain data in line routing and address the terrain roughness issues. An example problem will be included for a 230kV AC line application to demonstrate the methodology.
The project will be developed in two stages. The first phase will deal with a questionnaire in the subject area and the information will be sought from TODEM members while in the second phase, the full project proposal will be developed depending on the responses and information shared and received.
