Project: T193700 #33127

The first objective of this project is to conduct an extensive literature review that summarizes the numerical and experimental studies conducting during the past fifteen years on the effect of HIW on transmission line structures. The developed load cases simulating the critical effect of downbursts and tornadoes, which can be used to design new lines or to assess existing lines, will be described in details. The second objective is to use the computer code developed by the applicant and his research team to assess the response of a number of transmission line structures under downbursts and tornadoes and to compare the peak internal forces associated with those events to those associated with the envelop of load cases used in the design of those lines.
