Project: T214700 #3808

The objective of the project is to provide a study of the latest utility industry practices regarding monitoring the operation of DER facilities, electric charging and storage facilities, and various other new technologies on the edge of the grid; all of which have a rated output of 500 kW or less. This includes the monitoring of rooftop solar, as well as other renewable energy generation; the monitoring of electric vehicle, and other electric transportation, charging and storage facilities; and, the monitoring of the various other new technologies on the edge of the grid. How are utilities monitoring these facility operations in real time? How are utilities using smart meters to build profiles of these facilities? What technologies are utilities using for communication systems to monitor facilities?
