This project 50/118 developed simplified health index algorithms based on existing best practice algorithms to calculate health indices where the full set of condition parameters is not available. The algorithms were tested for sensitivity and applied to real-world failed asset data. The resulting study revealed that a “gateway” model is better suited to applying health indexing to assets with critical condition issues. Based on the “gateway” methodology, a “simplified health index” methodology is derived that can be applied to achieve a useful result with more practical data sets.
This report provides a guideline to establish a simplified methodology to calculate a health index based on the most critical indicators of end of life and data sets that most utilities already have in their health index formulation.
