Bench and pilot-scale tests were conducted at OHT to investigate the NOx removal potential of certain chemicals rich in amidogen (NH2) source. The bench-scale tests were done on the bench-scale reactor where simulated flue gas containing NOx in the amount of 360 to 570 ppm and O2 concentration in the range 2.8 to 3.2% was introduced into the reactor at temperatures ranging between 150 and 1000 degrees celcius to study the effects of the amidogen sources on NOx removal. These bench-scale tests were designed only to screen promising amidogens for use on the pilot furnace and were injected into the reactor at normalized stoichiometric ratios of between 0.5 and 5.0 while using air as the atomizing medium. Six amidogen sources were investigated.
