The objective of this study was to provide an assessment of the benefits and costs associated with different potential minimum motor efficiency levels (AC, 1800 rpm, polyphase 1-200 HP). The study's approach included both extensive review of Canadian motor market data and computerized benefit-cost analysis. Several minimum efficiency scenarios are analyzed from the perspective not only of society, but also motor users, utilities and motor manufacturers.
