Call For Abstracts

We are pleased to announce a Call for Abstracts for the CEATI Distribution Conference, which will focus on international future utility trends, best practices, tools, and technologies to improve distribution planning and operations. Experts are invited to submit presentation abstracts on one of the five themes described below.

IMPORTANT – Abstracts are due by 4:00 pm ET on April 19th, 2022. Notification of acceptance will be provided no later than May 31st, 2022. Abstracts shall be evaluated based on their applicability to the subject matter and their technical merits. Proponents are encouraged to emphasize work conducted for their electric utility clients.

Event Overview:

CEATI’s Annual Distribution Conference will focus on utility best practices, tools, and technologies to improve planning and operations and ensure business success in a world towards net-zero emissions and future markets  

  1. Non-Wires Alternatives (NWA) to efficient and reliable operations
  • Using NWA to prevent significant overloading of local distribution systems
  • Applying NWA solutions at the Utility side and behind the meter
  • Pricing incentives to drive NWA solutions behind the meter
  • Monitoring and control of customer facilities
  • Success rate and performance of NWA

  1. Electrification of Transportation- a threat or opportunity for distribution grids?  
  • Assessing the Impact of accelerated EV charging demand on distribution grid infrastructure and operations
  • Preparation for distribution grid integration in an accelerated vehicle charging demand
  • International utility best practices for grid integration and operation of residential, commercial, and mass transportation electrification.  
  • Ensuring hosting capacity into local distribution systems, commercial and residential services, to prepare for EV integration
  • Using energy storage to compliment EV integrations
  • Barriers and enablers for utilities to meet customer needs
  • Matching distribution grid reliability to EV charging requirements

  1. Distributed Energy Resources (DER)
  • Preparation for DER integrations while minimizing the risks
  • Reviewing technical constraints that limit DER penetration rates on distribution feeders

Presenter Guidelines

PRESENTER TIMELINE

Important Dates:

  • Abstracts due: 19 April 2022
  • Presenter award/regret notifications: 31 May 2022
  • Presenter acceptance of opportunity due: 25 July 2022
  • Deadline for draft presentations: 9 August 2022
  • Deadline for final presentations: 13 September 2022

PRESENTER GUIDELINES

Presentations should adhere to the guidelines set forth by CEATI International:

  • PowerPoint slides should be 16:9 ratio
  • Presenters must submit slides in PowerPoint format (.pptx/ .ppt) with a maximum of 25 slides
  • Presenters must submit pre-recorded presentation in mp4 format
  • Presentations will be distributed to attendees in PDF form
  • Presentation time will be 35 minutes followed by 10 minutes for Q&A (45 minutes in total)
  • All presenters must register for the event and submit headshot and short biography (2-3 sentences)

Subsequent to submission, presenters may continue to revise presentations but must submit their revised files on flash drive at a minimum of one (1) day in advance of their scheduled presentation time.

When you participate in a CEATI event, be it as an attendee, exhibitor, presenter, speaker, moderator or in any other capacity whatsoever, you will be participating in an event where photography, as well as video and audio recording is likely to occur.

By participating in the CEATI event, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on web sites, or for any other purpose(s) that CEATI deems fit to use. You release CEATI, its officers, directors, employees and consultants, and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing, distribution, or publication of photographs, computer images, video and/or audio recordings.

By entering the event platform, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any exhibition, streaming, webcasting, televising, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such exhibiting, broadcasting, webcasting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by or on behalf of CEATI or the person or entity designated to do so by CEATI.

In addition, the event will be monitored for unauthorized recording. By attending the CEATI event or accessing the event platform, you agree not to record or digitize any parts of the presentation, without CEATI’s express written consent.

You have been fully informed of your consent, waiver of liability, and release before participating in the CEATI event.

Young Professionals

The CEATI Young Professionals Group (YPG) is a networking, mentorship, and peer-to-peer support group of inspiring professionals who are new to the electric utility industry. All are welcome, but the target audience is those with less than 10 years of experience in the industry. The YPG networking event on October 3rd will provide a focused, industry-open forum for young professionals to network with their peers across the energy sector, discuss common challenges, and share experiences and strategies for positive career growth.
