Sheryl Yee
Health & Safety

Sheryl Yee is a safety professional with over 20 years of experience in the electric utility industry. She began her career at Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), where she played a key role in implementing a behavior-based safety program and later supported the power generation business unit, in hydropower operations. Sheryl went on to lead contractor safety programs across the organization, overseeing safety performance and risk management initiatives before retiring from SMUD in 2025. She holds a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety and was a certified utility safety specialist during her tenure. She has been actively involved with CEATI’s Health & Safety Interest Group since 2020.

A health and safety management system can provide an organization with the necessary guidance to build a framework for preventing workplace injuries and illnesses, improving compliance with laws and regulations, engaging workers, proactively managing workplace health and safety risks, and improving health and safety performance. This report defines a proactive approach to managing workplace health and safety using industry best practices and consistent with international standards. This guideline should allow an organization to build on and improve their existing health and safety management system.

Handling Workplace Violence

Workplace violence refers to any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at a worksite. It can affect and involve employees, clients, customers, or visitors. Hence, OSHA’s recommendation for employers to establish and maintain a violence prevention program made available to all employees. In this webinar, a representative from one of CEATI’s member organizations presents on how their organization handles violence in the workplace, as well as their security mitigation strategies.
